The future of Hungarian navigation was imegined in many different ways by so many a dreamer at the end of the 1920's decade. The 1929. I. Hungarian law on free shipping meant some solution. With the help of captain Rákos and the Barta brothers and in the wake of the new law several shipping companies were established with Dutch, German, Italian and British capital investements. At this time the Burger brothers started as well their shipping venture under Hungarian flag with a freighter ÁRPÁD and with a tanker named RAMÓNA. The ÁRPÁD bound for Japan with a cargo of phosphate sank even though she had been already sold to a Japanese scrap yard and was to be delivered at the end of the voyage. It was difficult to clear the suspicion of insurance fraud.
