1917-12.02.: ran aground near Mamula while approaching the Bocche. Sank in deep water while being towed clear. Wreck lies in depth of about 40 meters, popular scuba diving target today.
According to some Croatian sources the TIHANY grounded and sank near Lussinpiccolo (Malij Losinj, Croatia) off the outer Unije Island. However, it is contradicted by the fact that divers from Montenegro discovered the wreck of TIHANY lying 40 meters deep in Boka Kotorska, Montenegro. Building plate of the ship (Stabilimento Tecnico Trieste, #385, 1908) was observed during dives several times. The bell of the ship recovered from the site reads TIHANY 1908 and is now displayed in DC Marina, Herceg Novi. Other objects with Ungaro-Croata logo belonged to the steamer were also brought up. Moreover, the Croatian wreck is 60 meters long whereas the wreck in Boka Kotorska is 40 meters.
